SILICASANDS

Grudzeń Las foundry silica sands are ideal for steel casting thanks to their high purity (SiO₂ content above 99.2 %) and high temperature resistance. They are highly suitable for a high-quality casting surface in case of both grey iron and ductile iron, including non-ferrous metals. The oval shape of the grains alows reduction of costs of expensive organic binders (Cold-Box, Rezol CO₂, furan, etc.).

Silica sands for glassworks are required to be of the utmost purity, meaning SiO₂ content of at least 99,2 % and with low contents of Fe₂O₃, Al₂O₃ and TiO₂. Our silica sands are supplied worldwide to window glass manufacturers of solar glass, colourless, packaging and technical glass. Our sands are also used for glass batches which are subsequently used for soluble glass manufacturing. An equally essential application is in glass wool production for the construction industry.

The high purity of Grudzeń Las silica gravels makes them ideal for use in water treatment - both for drinking and industrial purposes, as well as in the wastewater treatment process. Thanks to its high hardness, the gravel is used for blasting of both metal structures and construction components. Silica gravels are the basic raw material in the construction industry and are used for the brick production, concrete masonry units and mortar, plaster, levelling and jointing compounds.

These are produced by crushing and consequent grinding of silica sand to the required grain size. Their quality and especially volume homogeneity is ensured thanks to the high-quality and modern equipment in production. The flours are very often used as sealants, fillers in cements, and for interior and facade paint production. Our silica flours are applied in the production of porcelain, sanitary equipment, ceramic tiling and glazes.

The roundness and smoothness of individual grains is perfect for the construction of beach volleyball courts, golf courses, track-and-field landing pits and playground sandpits, as well as for modification of sand to sports turfs. The purity of the clay-free sand is characterised by its white colour, which adds an aesthetic and decorative dimension to the above purposes.
